Extractions in Princeton TX
Sometimes helping patients achieve optimum oral health means that we have to remove a tooth.
While this news may not be ideal, Dr. Cho and Dr. Kang are highly skilled and handle most extractions here at our office, so the good news is that you’ll be working with the team you’re already familiar with.
Here are some of the circumstances in which a tooth extraction may be required.
Also called third molars, wisdom teeth are the last molars to arrive, typically around the ages of 18 to 25. If they come in properly, they’ll take their place in the very back of your mouth, behind your second molars.
Wisdom teeth are typically removed for various reasons, such as:
- They are very hard to reach to brush and floss properly. Poor hygiene increases your risk of developing tooth decay or gum disease.
- There’s not enough room for them. Most people don’t have sufficient space in their mouths to accommodate wisdom teeth, which means they may start to crowd your other teeth and cause shifting.
- They don’t come in properly. Some wisdom teeth arrive at odd angles, which poses risks for your other teeth.
- They don’t come in at all. Wisdom teeth often remain impacted, or stuck beneath the gum line, which can lead to an infection.
When crowding has caused to your teeth to overlap, you may need to have some teeth removed in order for orthodontics to be effective. Not only can we help with tooth extractions, Dr. Cho and Dr. Kang can also evaluate patients for orthodontic treatment, which is one of the comprehensive services we offer at Hello Dental.
A Damaged Tooth or Dental Infection
Another reason your tooth may need to be removed is because of injury, fracture, trauma, or infection. If a root canal is not able to preserve your tooth, an infected tooth will need to be removed in order to protect your oral health and your healthy teeth.
Will My Extraction Hurt?
Your comfort is our top priority at Hello Dental, and our doctors strive to make every procedure pleasant and efficient – even a tooth extraction. We’ll use the best dental anesthetics to ensure that you don’t feel anything during the procedure. Because our doctors are highly skilled, most patients are pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they felt during their extraction.
For patients who are anxious or need a little extra care, dental sedation is an option at Hello Dental. We offer nitrous oxide, which helps take the edge off during complex procedures so you can relax and feel at ease. Oral conscious sedation is also another option we can discuss with patients who experience fear around their dental procedures.
