We understand that dental emergencies are stressful, and we want you to know your team at Hello Dental is here for you!

Whether you’re a new patient who has never been to our office or a long-standing patient of record, we encourage anyone who’s experiencing dental pain or an emergency to call us. We do our best to see our emergency patients as soon as we can – the same day if necessary.

When you know how to handle a dental emergency, it helps alleviate some of your stress. If you’re not sure that your situation requires immediate attention, we still encourage you to call us. We’re happy to help you determine when you should be seen or walk you through some helpful remedies to use at home, when appropriate.

Here are some tips on handling common dental emergencies and when you should contact us.

Dental Pain or Sensitivity

If you’re experiencing dental pain or sensitivity that is constant and severe enough to keep you awake at night, you may have an infection in your tooth. Don’t wait to see if your tooth will get better on its own; unfortunately, a dental infection won’t go away without treatment.

An infection that is left untreated can spread to critical areas of the body and cause tooth loss and even systemic illness. Call us right away for treatment. A root canal procedure may be able to preserve your tooth.

A Knocked-Out Tooth

Time is of the essence for a tooth that’s been knocked out. Call Hello Dental right away because Dr. Cho and Dr. Kang have the best chance of saving your tooth within the first hour of your injury or accident.

Be careful when bringing your tooth to our office. Try to handle it as little as possible. Putting it back in its socket is the best way to transport it, if you can. If not, place your tooth into a container filled with milk to help keep the cells moist and alive.

A Broken or Chipped Tooth

If your tooth sustains a large fracture, try to bring as many pieces as you can with you to Hello Dental. There are many different options for restoring your tooth, and our doctors will give you their recommendations.

If your tooth has a small chip, you may not need immediate treatment, but you will want to schedule an appointment to get your tooth smoothed. A small chip can cause irritation to your tongue and soft tissues as well as provide an opening for bacteria.

A Broken Restoration

When you lose or break an old crown or filling, you’ll want to have it repaired to avoid further damage or an infection in your tooth. Give us a call, and we’ll assess whether you should be seen the same day or schedule an appointment.

If you or loved one is experiencing an emergency, give us a call as soon as possible. Your trusted team at Hello Dental looks forward to helping you feel comfortable and getting you back on the path to wellness.
